Lesson 27: More Evidence of No More Salvation, Let Them Be Unrighteous Still
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
What does this verse mean?
I believe the Holy Spirit is guiding me to understand these verses. I believe it declares itself to be a prophecy, that is, although the time was stated to be “at hand”, it was still referring to a time in the future. And what do we know about this time in the future? We know it is a time when the filthy and unjust will remain filthy and unjust while the righteous remain righteous. Now let’s try to pin down what time period this could be.
We know that if we are one of God’s Elect, then we will become saved at some point in our lives when we receive a new heart via the Holy Spirit. But we all start out as sinners with no hope of savings ourselves. So we start out life as filthy unrighteous sinners until we are saved. Once we become saved, we obtain a righteous soul that cannot sin and God no longer sees our sins (although we still have sinful bodies that cause us to sin). The proof of this comes from the following two verses:
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
So the time period referred to by Rev 22:11 cannot be a time when salvation is still possible on earth because there would be some of the Elect present that had not received the Holy Spirit yet. Therefore those individuals would still be filthy and unrighteous, but….here’s the point….they would not stay filthy and unrighteous because as members of the Elect they would be guaranteed to receive the Holy Spirit and become saved at some point in their lives. Therefore, this verse cannot be referring to a period of time when salvation is still possible. That leaves only that this verse must be referring to a time period when salvation is not possible and that would be Judgment Day, which we know began on May 21, 2011 and is continuing. All the Elect had already received the Holy Spirit by that date and therefore all the unrighteous left on the planet have no hope of being one of God’s selected and they will remain unrighteous.
Finally, notice that this verse also proves to us that members of the Elect will still be present alongside the non-Elect during Judgment Day. Although we expected that all the Elect would be Raptured on May 21, 2011, and therefore not be present on Earth during Judgment Day, this verse tells us that that was not God’s plan.
